HISTORY | ||
|
The St. John Mary Vianney Seminary was born in response to the growing need of the Diocese of San Carlos for priests to minister to an estimated 800,000 faithful (from two Visayan cultures – Ilonggo and Cebuano). The St. John Mary Vianney Formation House was established in June 1992 with six pre-college seminarians. It was conceived to be a pre-college seminary preparing the seminarians of the diocese for college formation at the Sacred Heart Seminary in Bacolod City. In June 1993, the increase in vocations and the construction of simple structures for formation expanded the pre-college formation to college formation, thus giving birth to the St. John Mary Vianney Seminary. As the number of vocations increased it became necessary to expand the simple structures of the seminary which was built to accommodate only a few seminarians. A new building was eventually constructed in 1996.
SJMVS now offers a course in Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy through a
consortium with the College of Sta. Rita. Philosophy, Theology and
English are taught while the rest of the electives and minor courses are
taught at the College of Sta. Rita. |

| OUR VISION | |||
|
We,
at the St. John Mary Vianney Seminary, are a spirit-filled community of
Christ's disciples animated with the charism of St. John Mary Vianney and
the maternal care of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
We
seek to form an active, discerning and liberating spirituality,
academically competent and psycho-emotionally mature individuals committed
to respond to the call of God and the signs of the times to build His
kingdom of justice, peace and love. |
|||
| OUR MISSION | |||
|
In
order to achieve this, we commit ourselves to a Christo-centric spiritual
formation, relevant and comprehensive academic and human development
program, an authentic community life and realistic pastoral program in
collaboration with priest and lay formators, our families and the
Christian community |
